Wadham College has been accredited by Investors in People

We are pleased to announce that Wadham College has been reaccredited by Investors in People (IIP) for the 20th year. The scheme recognises and supports organisations to become stronger and more effective as places of work. Wadham is one of only three Oxford colleges to receive this recognition from IIP.

We are grateful to everyone who took part in the confidential non-academic staff survey that enabled us to achieve this accreditation. We know that our people are our biggest strength and we are determined to improve the way that we manage, develop and lead. Investors in People will help us to focus on the right areas.

The survey gave everyone the chance to be heard and to make positive changes to working at our College. Seventy staff members completed the survey and 20 took part in in-person interviews. Our staff shared their views on how motivated and involved they feel; whether their work is interesting; and if they feel supported and appreciated. As an employer we will continue to learn from our staff. We are committed to making Wadham a positive working environment for them. Themes that emerged through the survey include:

We will continue to consult with staff on our ongoing efforts to improve in these areas and to work with our Staff Consultative Committee, which is chaired by our Warden, Robert Hannigan.

The IPP Assessor said:

“The way that the College has, following its Terms and Conditions Review, taken a proactive and holistic approach to reward and recognition to attract and retain staff at a time when it has been financially challenging to do so”.
