Wadham community raises £182,657 for future students in our seventh annual Giving Day

Contributions from around the world will help sustain a Wadham education for the future.
This year's Giving Day campaign highlighted the life-changing impact that your donations have on students while they are at Wadham, and how our students go on to change the world once they leave.
Through emails, videos, and conversations we shared how our students and alumni are advancing science, policy, culture and community, each in their own unique way.
Warden, Robert Hannigan, opened Giving Day in conversation with our current master's student, Trisha-Mae, whose research into positive early childhood experiences is just one example of the varied and vibrant research taking place at Wadham.
You responded to this message with warmth and enthusiasm from the run-up to Giving Day right into its closing hours. Below we recount how the Wadham community, past and present, came together to support the future of Wadham's life-changing education, and world-changing impact.
Relay Around the World
The spirit of participation ignited Giving Day from its early stages, as College staff tracked their steps/miles across the College during their working day, or during their commute, as a symbol of how far staff go to support Wadham students. These steps/miles were translated into an imagined relay around the world, with staff visiting spots where Wadham alumni live.
Wadham rowers in Venice, Italy.
Wadham's housekeeping team by the pyramids in Egypt.
Wadham staff by the Big Buddha statue in Hong Kong.
Match Funding
A generous donor spurred us on to give by pledging additional gifts if we reached certain milestones. Together we met all of those milestones, unlocking all the match funding along the way. Through the course of Giving Day, we hit 50 donors, then 100, then 200, then 300! We also met the goal of reaching 50 donors from the USA or Canada. Together, the match funding added an additional £15,000 to our pot.
Student Chalkers
Throughout Giving Day, our team of student volunteers brought cheer to the College entrance by keeping a chalk record of donors' names, and the total raised. The team got excited when we passed the £100k mark!
Community Events
During the Giving Day period, we hosted a staff, student, and fellow pub quiz, lovingly organised by Sophia in the lodge team and won by teams Dotty Quizzers and Wadhnot. We also held a bake sale with tasty treats prepared by the Wadham community, and a plant sale with items grown right here at Wadham. Together, the sale added a tidy £166 to the pot!
Thank You
A huge and heartfelt thank you on behalf on the whole College, and its future students, for all that you poured into this Giving Day, and for the incredible £182,657 raised. We are grateful for the continued warm engagement of our global alumni community.
