Peter Alsop

Fellow and Finance Bursar

Biography

Peter took up the role as Finance Bursar in 2016, taking responsibility for the College’s finance function and advising the Governing Body on all matters relating to property and investments.

Peter studied Engineering at Robinson College, Cambridge, and New College, Oxford. He has also worked around UK in the construction and chemicals industries, and then internationally in the oil and gas business.

For nearly 20 years, he was posted overseas, holding various commercial and management roles within Shell International, largely in the Far East. These have included business consulting, internal audit, market development, investment economics, acquisitions and divestments, and asset commercial management. He and his family have enjoyed living in The Netherlands, China, Malaysia and Singapore (which his family also counts as home), and also travelling and working throughout Asia-Pacific.

When not at work or spending time with his family Peter enjoys music and is an enthusiastic cellist. After having grown accustomed to life overseas and being regarded as an alien, he is enjoying rediscovering his country of birth and his own roots.
