Simon Yarrow

Dr Simon Yarrow is Consultant in Anaesthetics and Neurosciences Intensive Care at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust.

His role at Wadham is that of graduate advisor to medical students in the three clinical years of their course. As well as hands-on teaching of practical skills, he runs tutorials in perioperative medicine, co-ordinates bedside teaching by the college’s clinical teaching associates, organises examination practice and provides general career and pastoral guidance.

Following his MA in Medical Sciences & Pharmacology at Downing College, Cambridge, Simon achieved his BM BCh in Clinical Medicine at Magdalen College, Oxford. He trained in Anaesthetics and Intensive Care in a number of hospitals in and around Birmingham and Oxford, before being appointed to a consultant post at the Radcliffe Infirmary in 2003. In his clinical work he is part of the team providing anaesthetic services to the Oxford Regional Neurosciences Centre (now relocated to the John Radcliffe site in Headington), both in the neurosurgical operating theatres and the intensive care unit. He also sits on the question-setting panel for the Intercollegiate Board in Neurosurgery, the UK’s national examining board in the speciality. Simon is a Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists.
