Events in Israel, Gaza and the Middle East
Date Published: 01.06.2024
We continue to be deeply concerned by the terrible events that have unfolded in Israel, Gaza and the Middle East since October 2023. Our thoughts are with all those who have been affected by the crisis, and we continue to offer support to all impacted students, staff, and Fellows.
At Wadham, we are committed to freedom of speech and respect the right to protest peacefully, within the parameters of the law and the College’s code of conduct. Further information from the Vice Chancellor on the encampment outside the Museum of Natural History and the University’s wider approach to the crisis in Gaza can be found on the University’s website.
Wadham has always prided itself on its welcoming and inclusive community and there is no place for intolerance here, including antisemitism and other forms of hatred. We encourage all those who need help to reach out. Support (including counselling) is available to eligible academic staff via the University Employee Assistance Programme, and to all academic and non-academic staff via the College Employee Assistance Programme. Wadham’s Welfare Team, comprising our nurse, student welfare lead, welfare advisor, chaplain, and junior deans, is here to support our students, who can reach out also to their tutors.
