The Nature-based Solutions Conference, linked to the Nature-based Solutions Initiative directed by our Tutorial Fellow in Biology, Professor Nathalie Seddon, took place at Oxford's Natural History Museum in June 2024. The report and recordings from the conference, highlighting critical actions for aligning climate and biodiversity agendas to support social-ecological flourishing, have been released.

The conference brought together interdisciplinary researchers, practitioners and decision makers from the public and private sectors, as well as Indigenous voices from around the world, to discuss and co-create an action plan for nature-based solutions to support positive social-environmental change.

The following themes were among those explored at the conference: .

  • Redefining NbS through justice & equity
  • Embracing complexity to drive resilience
  • New government models grounded in local knowledge
  • Reframing the economy within biosphere limits
  • Collective responsibility and democratic renewal
  • Transforming finance for long-term sustainability
  • Expanding the concept of health to include nature
  • Reconnecting with nature as a foundation for systemic change
